9. Where Did My Paragraphs Go?

If you find that your Sent messages do not have paragraph breaks, try these hints.

Always hit the Return key twice for breaks between paragraphs. This will create one blank line between your paragraphs. If more than one blank line is required, use the ALT key along with your Return key for each blank line desired.

Never "indent" paragraphs, like you would normally do on a typewriter. But, if you must indent, instead of just using the space bar key alone, hold down the ALT key at the same time you press the space key! This will ensure that your "spaces" are not lost in the transmission of your emails or posts.

If you use html coding in the body of your e-mail, you must use the (p) tag to begin a new paragraph, and (/p) to end one.

(Note: You must use the "less than" and "greater than" symbols instead of the parentheses as they are displayed in the above paragraph.) (< and > )

This is also true for lengthy text in the sig box, but only when using html coding.

Another helpful hint: When you are in the middle of a sentence, and you reach the end of a line, just keep typing and let the words "wrap" to the next line of text by themselves. Do not use the Return key as you would use the Carriage Return on a typewriter.

Also, never use more than one "blank space" between words or sentences. Just hit your space bar once. But again, if more than one consecutive blank space is required, use the ALT key in conjunction with the space bar key.

While these "rules" do not reflect what most of us learned in school, remember, this is the internet, and the rules have changed!
