37. How Many E-mails Have I Received?

Updated on June 8, 2002!

Generally, there are two methods which can be used to determine how many emails you have recieved. Regular WebTV (MSN TV) users can utilize Method One. Canadian users who connect via the Rogers Interactive Service can utilize Method Two.

Method One

This is the method which is currently working (5-11-02), and it's the simplest.

While viewing your inbox (Mail List), place your yellow highlight box over the most recently received email. But instead of pressing the Return key (as you would if you wanted to open that email), just hold down the CTRL and CMD keys at the same time. A message ID number will appear in the status bar at the bottom of your screen. That's how many emails you have received!

You can perform this same trick in your Sent, Saved, and Discarded folders to determine how many emails you have ever sent, saved or discarded.

Method Two
(works for Canadian users of the Rogers Interactive Service)

You have to have something in your signature box and know how to bounce an email for this to work.

The sig box can be found by choosing Mail, and then Settings. After clicking onto Settings, your next screen will show Signature, among other things. Click onto Signature, and type only a letter or a period (if you don't already have anything entered there.)

With your signature "ON." bounce the last email you've received, using the symbol method, rather than the plaintext method. To learn how to "bounce" an email, click here. (Then use your Back key to return to this page.)

Follow steps #1 through #10. Then, instead of clicking on Send, click onto Remove signature. Some text will appear and you should see something that says "message forward id=" and then a number. That number is the number of emails you've received on that user name.

You can perform this same trick in your Sent, Saved, and Discarded folders to determine how many emails you have ever sent, saved or discarded.
